We're proud to say that LAITO is an award winning video production company, based in the West Midlands. We are a team of enthusiastic film production creatives specialising in creating short-form documentaries and promotional videos, taking a collaborative approach with clients to produce films that bring the audience to the essence of a project; we believe that storytelling is the key to a great video. Tell us your story.

LAITO was founded in 2013 by Rob Lainchbury and James Otto who both had a passion for creating high quality films and documentaries. In the same year, LAITO won the BCU Deutsche Bank Award for Creative Enterprises and has continued to promote highest-quality videography in Birmingham and the surrounding areas.

I am a videographer, visiting specialist lecturer and filmmaker based in Birmingham. My passion is to capture life events to enhance story telling and to present the audience with a real life perspective. I was awarded a place on the Birmingham Skills for Enterprise and Employability Network in 2013 (BSEEN).

As managing director of LAITO I am in charge of the smooth running of the business but I mostly enjoy getting out and filming on location.

Mini fact: I once decided to cycle to Cumbria from Gloucester in 3 days.

James founded LAITO with Rob in 2013 whilst they were studying together at Birmingham Conservatoire. After some time working as the company's creative director, James stepped down in order to focus more on his career as a composer. This takes various forms, having worked with youth theatre companies, filmmakers, and promotional media agencies. From time to time, James continues to work for LAITO as a composer, camera operator, and motion graphics editor. He now lives in Bath with his wife, Katy.

Mini fact: I can do a half decent impression of Ian McKellen's Gandalf.

I work as a freelance musician and project manager. I run a number of projects in the West Midlands and have worked with a number of organisations such as Town Hall Symphony Hall, Birmingham City University and Stratford-Upon-Avon Literary Festival.

As director of communications I deal with all things social media and a lot of behind the scenes stuff such as drawing up contracts, managing client relationships and pitch applications, and writing funding applications and business plans.

Mini fact: I have had a phobia of jelly since I was about 6 years old.

I am a freelance filmmaker from Birmingham with my work taking me all over the world, such as camera assisting in Thailand, editing in Milan and making short films in Ireland. I have had the pleasure of working with LAITO on numerous exciting projects, including feature films, short film and commercial work. A recent success was the award winning short film I shot for Laito, 'The Reason I Shop Online'.

My passion is creative visual storytelling and collaborating with likeminded others on film sets.
